Rare Steak Pho

Before graduating from Cal State Fullerton, my team from the Newport Beach Film Festival and I enjoyed one last meal together at Pho Olivia. It was, what would turn out to be an all night meeting to finish our final business plan and we needed fuel to get us through the night.

Fried Rice and Egg Roll

We had already been working for over 4 hours and we were ready for some dinner. Pho Olivia was close, cheap, and compared to our other options, relatively nutritious. The food was amazing, the service was awesome, and overall it was a nice break from our work.

Our meal consisted of rare steak pho, fried rice, egg rolls, and a variety of drinks. We had thai ice tea, strawberry lemonade, and a lemon soda. Everyone was happy with everything.

Thai Ice Tea

The pho was hot, flavorful, and had lots of meat. The thai ice tea, as I have said before is not my favorite drink, but their’s was nice, not too sweet. The strawberry lemonade was a perfect combination of sweet and sour. Although I didn’t get to try the lemon soda, my team lead described it as delicious.

Strawberry Lemonade

The layout of Pho Olivia is very open, makes for a nice place for large groups to meet up. The service was awesome, they were very attentive and quick. Overall it was a very nice experience and I cannot wait to go back.

“Real” Crab Meat

So I have sort of been on a Thai food binge lately and I have been happy for the most part with the places I have tried like Chillin’ Thai Cuisine, but Cozy Thai Cuisine was a big let down, and unless I am too lazy to drive I will not be eating here again. Delivery is their only plus, that and they are located next to a decent boba place, but I’ll critique Black & White later.

Crab Fried Rice

We ordered their crab fried rice, advertised as real crab. Ha! I love crab, hate imitation and this was clearly imitation. Waste of money in my opinion; Why pay the extra for their crab fried rice, when besides the imitation crab it is really nothing more than fried rice, and not super impressive fried rice at that. I doused mine in soy sauce to find any flavor.

Spring Rolls

We also got their spring rolls which were better than the fried rice, but they were just spring rolls, very generic and nothing special. They were served super hot though so they are prepared fresh which is nice.

Pork Pad Thai

I really was not a fan o their pad Thai. We ordered pork pad Thai and the flavor was just not there. Had a slightly tomato after taste, best way I can describe it, and was slightly bitter. The noodles were super sticky and clumped together into one solid mass.

Now onto Black & White, the drink store right next door. Rather than get drinks from Cozy Thai we opted to grab something next door, knock out two places in one stop. This was my second time at Black & White and both times was a pleasant experience. Service was a little slow, but their drinks are good. My boyfriend got the Thai tea which I am never a fan of, but he liked it and I ordered their strawberry banana smoothie and I loved it. Sweet, fresh tasting, and very refreshing!
